How to Create a New Page for Shopify without Changing Other Pages

How to Create a New Page in Shopify without Changing Other Pages

As user-friendly and intuitive as Shopify is, creating a new page in Shopify is not as straightforward as you might think.

If you create a new page but use an existing page template, once you begin to make changes to the new, individual page, those same changes will be made to all other pages using that same template.

Instead, you’ll need to create a new page template before creating your new page each time. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. From the left-hand menu, click on “Online Store” and then select “Themes.”
  3. In the Themes section, locate the theme you want to work with and click on the “Actions” button. Choose “Edit code” from the drop-down menu.
  4. In the “Templates” directory, click on “Add a new template.”
  5. Select the type of template you want to create, such as “page” or “product.” Give your new template a name and click on “Create template.”
  6. Customize your new template by adding HTML, CSS, and Liquid code. This will determine the layout and functionality of your page.
  7. Save your changes and exit the code editor.
  8. To create a new page using the template you just created, go back to the Shopify admin panel.
  9. Click on “Online Store” and then select “Pages.”
  10. In the Pages section, click on the “Add page” button.
  11. Give your page a title and select the template you created from the “Template” drop-down menu.
  12. Add content to your page using the rich text editor. You can include text, images, videos, and other media.
  13. Customize the page settings, such as the URL handle and visibility options.
  14. Save your changes and preview the page to ensure it appears as desired.
  15. Once you’re satisfied, publish the page to make it live on your Shopify store.

If you accidentally forget to create a new page template before creating your new page, don’t worry! If you’ve published changes to all other pages unknowingly, rolling back to the previous template is possible. However, it does require accessing the code of your site.
